Braunston is a beautiful canalside village in Northamptonshire and this is the first year of the Braunston Festival. Our patron is former Braunston resident and Whitbread Prize-winning author William Trevor KBE. Tom Graham, aka Tom Archer, opens the Festival. We have best-selling and prize-winning musicians, writers and storytellers, including Eliza Carthy, Chris Wood, Sophie Hannah, Tim Butcher, Roald Dahl Museum Storytellers and CBeebies TV star Katy Ashworth. BBC Radio presenter Liz Kershaw will open our free outdoor music event on Monday 30 August. Over the three days of the festival you'll find traditional stalls and unusual spectacles, with food and drink a-plenty. Would you like to be serenaded on board a canal boat? Could you win our cupcake challenge or perfect ploughman's competition? Fancy making a smoothie by bicycle? Or being part of a human fruit machine? Ever taken part in an onion-peeling contest? Now is your chance! Have a look around the site to find out more and email us if you'd like to know more or get involved. We look forward to seeing you over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
